My backpack weighs a ton. Wet, freezing cold and a bit miserable. Yet I cannot stop walking under the icy rain.
I stroll aimlessly, letting myself be astonished by casual discoveries.
There are ruins and monuments in every direction, the traffic is terrible with all the scooters and lousy drivers. The city is dirty, people walk blabbing about lively and throw wraps, papers and empty bottles on the sidewalk.
All over the place I stumble upon archeological sites, pizza stands and fascinating ancient ruins and monuments. Street sellers insistently offer umbrellas and cheap souvenirs, they also, are part of the scenery.
I can feel the weight of history, of past events and greatness.
Truth is Rome was what I expected and much more, I loved it.
