Life as it is

He woke up without knowing if it was true. He knew it had been a dream, yet there was a hint of doubt in his mind. He hesitated in opening his eyes, maybe it really was true. He plunged into reality taking a quick look around. The familiarity of his bedroom disappointed him, it was the same one he had slept in all his life. He felt angry at himself, always making up excuses. Why? Why did he always do that? In that instant he made a decision, one that would change his life as he knew it.
He got a raggedy small backpack he had stashed long ago under his bed and, after dressing up quickly, filled it with some random clothes. He put his passport and wallet in his jean's pocket. He knew if he thought it twice, he would never do it. And like that, without thinking it or looking back, he left for the airport.

She woke up suddenly, scared, sobbing. It had been one of those nightmares again. She couldn't shake it off. She stared at the roof for a while, wondering how things would turn out. Her bag was ready, waiting by the door of her room. She threw on some clothes, got her bag and took a cab off the street without hesitating.

Upon arrival at the airport he wasn't so sure anymore on what to do. How was he supposed to find her? she didn't own a cellphone and wasn't expecting him. He was clueless on her destination, their destination if he could find her. He stood by a counter looking out for her. 30 minutes went by and there was no sign of her; he suddenly felt stupid, the excuses started taking over him once again. He sat on the floor, rested his head against the wall of the counter with his eyes closed and wished he was back in the familiar looking room he had woken up to every morning of his life.

She knew he would go, even if he had turned her down the night before with a bunch of worthless excuses, and she knew she would find him; she just wasn't sure how she was so sure of all those things.

"Next plane leaves for Bali in 1 hour, what do you think? shall we?"
